London Tales is a new collection of short stories from Tim Walker that echo London’s past, reflect the present and imagine its future.
Starting with a dramatic account of Queen Boudica’s rebel army attack on Londinium (Roman London) in 60 CE, it ends with a dystopian tale set during the final evacuation as rising sea levels claim the city.
In between, there are stories set during the Peasant’s Revolt in 1381, the Great Fire of London in 1666, the last ice fair in 1814, Jack the Rippers murders of 1888, the Blitz of 1941, then the World Cup summer of 1966, the 70s, 80s and the London terror attacks of 2007. It’s a work of fiction, drawing on key moments in London’s fascinating 2,000 year history.
